I now notice that the Microsoft.Licensing.LicAdmin.exe tool is not included in the protection output folder. Is there some option I need to select when protecting my applicaton in order to include this tool in the output?
From SLPS version 3.1.1920, we have removed the distribution of LicAdmin.exe in the code protection output folder. But you can still find LicAdmin in the Code Protector install directory (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\InishTech SLP Code Protector\).
We decided to remove the automatic inclusion of LicAdmin as it is designed as a troubleshooting tool for ISVs and we don't recommend ISV distribute LicAdmin to end users who may delete licenses by mistake.
So while this change prevents unconscious distribution of LicAdmin with protected applications, an IS can still decide to include this tool as part of their redistributables. In this case you need to ensure this tool is installed alongside the permutation DLLs.
When LicAdmin is run, it will display the vendor name from the permutation DLLs alongside it. While LicAdmin shows all licenses available irrespectve of the issuing vendor, those licenses issued by vendors other than that shown in the title bar of LicAdmin will appear as "Foreign Vendor". However this won't affect the function of LicAdmin and all licenses can be managed, irrespective of vendor.
